# Synatrail workstation: 5 V contact-status board

This is an **illustrative, unbuilt** electrical addition to the inspection-workstation cookbook example. The editable KiCad 10 schematic and two-layer PCB show three LED branches: power, contact A closed, and contact B closed. J2 and J3 accept isolated **dry contacts only**. The board has no sensor conditioning, motion control, camera interface, safety function, or software connection.

Open `status-indicator.kicad_pro` in KiCad 10 with the included `sym-lib-table`, `fp-lib-table`, and `kicad-libraries/`. `schematic.svg` and `board-overview.svg` are cropped reading previews; `schematic-full.svg`, `schematic.pdf`, `board-front.svg`, `board-back.svg`, and `board-routing.svg` are native KiCad exports. `BOM.csv`, `pinout.md`, and `design-notes.md` explain the design. `electronics-source.zip` contains the editable design, local library excerpts, reports, and notes. `fabrication.zip` contains CAM exports for inspection, including separate plated and non-plated drill files. These are **not fabrication release files**.

The PCB outline is 80 × 60 mm with four 3.2 mm non-plated mounting holes on a 70 × 50 mm pattern. The nominal stackup assumption is two copper layers and 1.6 mm board thickness; no stackup impedance or manufacturer capability has been verified. Its outline fits in the illustrative workstation W37 enclosure's 149 × 94 mm cavity in plan view, but the enclosure has no matching PCB standoffs, fasteners, connector access, or thermal design. It is not ready to mount there.

KiCad CLI 10.0.6 completed schematic ERC, PCB DRC, unconnected-item checks, and schematic/board parity with zero reported violations. Board-wide copper clearance is at least 0.20 mm and silk clearance at least 0.15 mm in the project rules. KiCad's default ignored-check categories remain listed in `erc.json` and `drc.json`; no new category was excluded to obtain a pass. The files have not been fabricated, assembled, powered, probed, or reviewed for any applicable product standard. Do not connect to mains, motors, or the workstation's real controls.

To reproduce the checks and CAM exports from a local KiCad 10 CLI, run these commands from the extracted source directory:

```sh
kicad-cli sch erc --output erc.json --format json --severity-all --exit-code-violations status-indicator.kicad_sch
kicad-cli pcb drc --output drc.json --format json --all-track-errors --schematic-parity --severity-all --exit-code-violations status-indicator.kicad_pcb
kicad-cli pcb export gerbers --layers F.Cu,B.Cu,F.Mask,B.Mask,F.SilkS,Edge.Cuts --output fabrication/ status-indicator.kicad_pcb
kicad-cli pcb export drill --excellon-separate-th --output fabrication/ status-indicator.kicad_pcb
```

The repository's offline generators are included in `generators/`. They create this separate teaching artifact without altering the original cookbook model run or its receipts. The publication-level `manifest.json` lists hashes for the downloadable files and is available alongside the ZIP.
